The unexpected inheritance of an original sheet of music by Johann Sebastian Bach forces former music teacher and loner Marten Brückling to travel to a small, picturesque town in Brazil. When he gets mugged and the music sheet and his personal documents are stolen, he finds help in German-speaking Candido who promises to recover Marten’s belongings. In return, Marten has to give music lessons to the children in the youth correctional facility where Candido is working. Reluctantly Marten accepts the deal and soon strives under the influence of the kids’ joy and excitement and rediscovers his own passion for music and life. Uniting Classic music and Samba rhythms, „Bach in Brazil” is an up-beat feel-good comedy about second chances and unexpected new beginnings.

Ansgar Ahlers
Ansgar Ahlers, Regisseur, Produzent und Drehbuchautor, wurde 1975 geboren und stammt aus Aschendorf/Papenburg. Ab 1997 wirkte er u.a. als Regieassistent bei internationalen Kinoproduktionen mit. Nach der Gründung seiner eigenen Produktionsfirma, forseesense, realisierte er 2001 seinen ersten Kurzfilm „Covered with Chocolate“, für den er eine Nominierung für den Goldenen Bären der Berlinale erhielt. Der Kurzfilm gewann 2001 den Ostfriesischen Kurzfilmpreis beim Filmfest Emden. Mit seiner Produktionsfirma realisierte er ebenfalls zahlreiche Werbe-, Image-, und Ausstellungsfilme. Seit 2004 setzt er sich mit seinem Multimediaprojekt DAYDREAMS für die Förderung des Nachwuchses ein. „Bach in Brazil“ ist sein Kinospielfilm-Debüt.
